Global Energy Systems Consummates Georgia Landfill
Gas Purchasing Agreement with Republic Services
Hickory Ridge Landfill Gas to be Processed Into Saleable Energy Product
Atlanta, GA February 6, 2009 - Global Energy Systems, a subsidiary of the diversified renewable energy company Global Energy Holdings Group, Inc. (NYSE Alternext US:GNH), today announced it has acquired the right to purchase landfill gas from Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE: RSG), the owner and operator of the Hickory Ridge landfill in Conley, Georgia. Global Energy will process the landfill gas to convert it into a saleable energy product. Global Energy paid Republic a total of $3,350,000 for the landfill gas purchase rights and will pay Republic a royalty based on revenues collected from the sale of the processed gas.
Methane, a greenhouse gas that is produced naturally during the decomposition of landfill waste, is 23 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Often, this landfill gas is isolated and flared to prevent its release into the atmosphere. Rather than flaring the methane from Hickory Ridge, Global Energy will construct a pipeline to transport this gas to its gas conditioning facility. Global Energy will then process the landfill gas into an energy product that may be sold for a variety of uses.
"Republic is very excited to add this project to our portfolio of 80+ landfill gas- to-energy projects. It complements our operations in the Atlanta area and the services and relationships we have with our customers there, and furthers our goals of contributing to energy independence, sustainability and environmental stewardship" says Bill Held, Senior Director of Renewable Energy for Republic.
Landfill gas is recognized as a source of renewable energy by a number of State renewable portfolio standards and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The U.S. EPA's Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) has identified 23 landfills in the state of Georgia that are promising candidates for landfill gas to energy (LFGTE) systems.
"Global Energy intends to work with a number of waste service providers to develop LFGTE projects at landfills across the Southeast United States," said Mike Ellis, President of Global Energy Systems. "Global Energy's expert staff including our management team and engineers will help us develop the Southeast's energy potential."

Global Energy Systems to Acquire WoodTech, LLC, and Affiliated Entities
Georgia Facility to Recycle Wood Waste and Generate Energy from Waste Biomass
ATLANTA, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global Energy Systems, a subsidiary of the diversified renewable energy company, Global Energy Holdings Group, Inc. (NYSE: GNH) , announced the execution of a definitive agreement to acquire Cherokee County, GA based wood fuel and landscape materials processor, WoodTech, LLC, and affiliated entities. Closing of the transaction is expected to occur in mid-February, 2009.
"We are excited about our affiliation with Global Energy," says Jimmy Bobo of WoodTech, who with his brother, David, has spent the last ten years building the biomass fuel and landscape materials business. "We have been looking for the right company with the right people and expertise to partner with us to develop our business into a state-of-the-art, world-class biomass business - we found that partner in Global Energy."
Currently, the Canton-based company has equipment capacity in operation to produce over 900,000 tons of biomass per year and has the planned expansion in Ball Ground, GA to be completed later this year. At completion, the facility will result in one of Georgia's largest independent wood biomass products producers with capacity to produce over 1,225,000 tons of biomass products per year. The facility will have the flexibility to produce multiple products including mulch, wood chips, potting soil, bedding material and wood fuel, depending on market demands.
Adjacent to the biomass recycling center, Global Energy plans to install a wood waste gasifier capable of converting up to 20% of the facility's biomass into syngas. This syngas will be used to fuel a steam boiler that will power a steam turbine generator. Fully operational, the biomass power plant will generate approximately 20MW of "green" electricity for sale to a local utility. Global Energy expects that the facility will generate enough electricity to supply approximately 12,000 households and will add approximately 100 new jobs to the Cherokee County economy.
"We believe that Georgia is well-situated to be a leader in the bio-fuel industry," said Mike Ellis, President of Global Energy Systems. "We are in the bio-fuel business for the long haul. This acquisition will make us a major player in Georgia's quickly developing bio-fuel industry and we intend to grow from here."
"Our nation is increasingly embracing the necessity of changing the way we process our waste and generate energy," said David Ames, CEO of Global Energy Holdings Group. "Through the development of localized recycling and energy projects, like the Cherokee County Georgia project, Global Energy will help communities responsibly manage their waste and reduce our nation's reliance on fossil fuels."
The Cherokee County facility will also serve an educational function for local school systems. Global Energy will work with local schools using the facility to educate youth on the benefits of renewable energy and how locally-available, abundant waste materials can be recycled to create usable products on a sustainable basis.

Global Energy Systems Signs Agreement with Florida County for Landfill Gas Project
Friday January 30, 3:35 pm ET
Charlotte County Zemel Road Landfill Gas to Energy Project
ATLANTA, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global Energy Systems, a subsidiary of the diversified renewable energy company Global Energy Holdings Group, Inc. (NYSE Alternext US: GNH), today announced it has signed an agreement with Charlotte County, Florida for the development of a landfill gas sequestration and energy facility at the Charlotte County Zemel Road landfill.
Located 2 hours south of Tampa, the Zemel Road landfill generates methane, a natural gas, created from the decomposition of its waste. Methane, however, is a greenhouse gas 23 times more potent that carbon dioxide. Typically, this landfill gas is flared to prevent its escape into the atmosphere. Instead of flaring the gas, Global Energy will construct and operate a landfill gas collection system and onsite energy plant for local electricity production.
Under the terms of the agreement Global Energy Systems purchased all the rights for landfill gas generated at the Charlotte County, Florida Zemel Road landfill from North American Natural Resources-Southeast, LLC. And with the purchase, Global Energy Systems has the exclusive right to construct and operate a landfill gas to electricity project at the Zemel Road landfill.
Global Energy Systems expects to make a $6,000,000 investment at the landfill for infrastructure and power generation equipment. "The landfill will provide enough gas to generate enough electricity to power 1,500 homes in Charlotte County every year. This proactive approach to carbon dioxide emissions reductions has the equivalent benefit of removing 17,000 vehicles from our roadways," says Charlie Wall, Chief Operating Officer of Global Energy Systems.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) limits the maximum level of pollution that a stationary source may produce. Based on its greenhouse gas emissions, the Zemel Road landfill has not reached this level and, therefore, does not require mandatory gas collection. However, by implementing this landfill gas project, Charlotte County and Global Energy are working together to voluntarily curb the landfill's emissions. "This renewable energy project is not only good for the environment but will generate potentially $1,000,000 in annual revenues for Charlotte County, a win-win situation for Global Energy, Charlotte County and Mother Earth," says Roger Lescrynski, Project Manager, Charlotte County Environmental & Extension Services.
"Our nation has a vast supply of untapped waste resources for energy production," says Don White, Vice President of Sales and Business Development of Global Energy Systems. "By developing our landfill gas infrastructure, we can prevent the escape of a harmful greenhouse gases and reduce our dependency on traditional fossil fuels by generation of a renewable energy source."
